The Chiropractice relationship and the Nervous System

The Chiropractice relationship and the Nervous System

The nervous system is made of two parts that include the brain and spinal cord which combine to form your central nervous system. This is like a relay that is constantly sending and receiving messages back and forth from the brain to different parts of the body that may control movement, coordination, and balance, to breathing and heartbeat to how we regulate stress and perceive our surrounding of touch and sensation. The nervous system plays a role in nearly every aspect of your health and wellbeing. When a nerve has interference such as a joint that may not function properly a chiropractic adjustment to a specific segment can help improve nerve flow and start the restorative process back to movement and health.

Evidence Based Practice

At Holmes Chiropractic we have an evidence-Base approach to treatment:

  • The experience of the treating clinician
  • The Preferences of the patient regarding their care

Achieving this is done by making sure that possible underlying causes and symptoms are identified, explaining an overall action plan, and educating the patient to give them the necessary knowledge they need to help avoid possible future recurrences with some valuable tools to help.
Evidence is always emerging, pursuing clinical relevance, giving the best patient care possible and in their best interest and building this to best patient practice is important. As people we are all different and no one solution, technique, or advice is always going to work on every person, but we actively encourage each patient to be involved in the treatment plan, whether that be home exercise, stretching and mobility and making this a journey of discovery about how you can best achieve your optimal health outcomes and get back to doing what you do pain free.
